PUFFIN GRAPHIC CLASSICS FROM PENGUIN BOOKS

Art by Becky Cloonan.

Bram Stoker's Dracula has proven to be one of the most popular and influential novels ever written.  It was with Dracula that the whole fabric of what makes up vampires became part of the literary source for so many other novels, films, TV, games, etc.  There were previous works featuring vampires prior to Stoker but it was this novel that really propelled it into everyone's consciousness.  Part of the appeal of this vampire novel is that Stoker brought in historical reference and linked the vampire with a true person, Vlad Tepes, of the family Dracul.  It was also released at a time when science was beginning to assert itself so the novel focused on science versus superstition.

The artist for the series is Becky Cloonan who is best known for the work she did on the DEMO series and currently doing AMERICAN VIRGIN for DC.

Another book in the Puffin Classic series written by Gary Reed was  FRANKENSTEIN  with Frazer Irving.
